ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
For more than 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided us a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need. In fact, OGHS is the single, largest way Presbyterians come together every year to work toward a better world.
The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.
TREAD LIGHTLY FOR LENT
The Presbyterian Hunger Program strives to walk with people in moving toward sustainable choices that restore and protect all of God’s children and Creation. As people of faith, we seek to “serve and preserve” God’s world. However, some of our collective choices have led to a changing global climate. To turn this tide, we must commit to treading lightly on God’s Earth. In Lent, we reflect on Christ’s ministry, death and resurrection. We slow down, take time and examine our internal spiritual lives and the way we live out our Christian faith in the world around us. Our hope is that this Lenten calendar will be the beginning of actions intended to create more mindful behaviors throughout the year.
DEACONS' SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE DRIVE THRU DINNER/SATURDAY BRUNCH
Sending a huge thank you to all who came to the Pancake Brunch Drive Thru! It was a big success with 121 breakfasts served!! In keeping with Fat Tuesday tradition, King cake was served with each breakfast. The cakes were baked by our own: Kay Fisher, Mollie Hedges, Barb Hull, Jan McKelvey, Donna Solovey and Sue Twining. If you found a baby in your piece of cake, please let a Deacon know so we can announce ”the finders of God’s blessing.” As always, our congregation was very generous in their giving. We will be donating a $600 profit to a local ministry that benefits the community. After the Deacon’s meet March 3, we will report the exact amount and destination. Again, Thank You from Your Board of Deacons!

PEACE & GLOBAL WITNESS OFFERING
Sunday, October 4, 2020 the Mission Team and Christian Education gathered, with safety precautions, to prepare sack lunches for the congregation to pick up in a “drive thru” for donations to the church’s Peace and Global Witness Offering. This offering is one of the 4 special offerings our church participates in through the year. The donations are distributed locally and throughout the world, here’s information the PCUSA website provides:
”A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world. Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of this Offering to connect with the global witness of Christ's peace. Mid councils retain an additional 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness.”
